Patient Visit FAQ’s

INDIANA HEALTH CENTERS HAS MADE SOME CHANGES IN RESPONSE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

YOUR IHC VISIT:

What changes will I see before my appointment?
You will be offered a telemedicine visit if your provider feels that your needs can be met via a telemedicine session. You will be asked to come to the appointment alone unless the appointment is for a child (child should be accompanied by only one parent or guardian), or you are an adult who needs assistance (you will be able to bring one person to help you). You will also be asked to bring and wear a face covering. If you do not have a face covering, a mask will be provided when you enter the clinic.

What changes will I see when I arrive?
You may be asked to wait in your car until your appointment time. You will be screened for symptoms of COVID-19 by a staff member at the door. If you are not experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 you will go in for your appointment. If you ARE experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, you will be asked to return to your car and a nurse or provider will call you to screen you further and advise you on next steps (testing, self-quarantining, etc).

What other things will I notice?
We are offering fewer available appointment times to allow for social distancing and cleaning/sanitizing between appointments. We will have fewer chairs in the waiting rooms to allow for social distancing, and we’ve removed toys and magazines from our waiting rooms as well.

YOUR TELEMEDICINE VISIT:

How do I request a telemedicine visit?
If you believe your visit may qualify for a telemedicine visit, call your local IHC location and ask if you can schedule a virtual appointment. IHC will schedule your visit.

How do I connect to a virtual visit?
You will receive a text message that includes a link for your visit. 15 minutes before your visit, click on the link. Fill in the information that you can, and follow the directions. Once you connect, a provider will be with you shortly.
