INDIANAPOLIS, IN (September 23, 2011) – Indiana Health Centers, Inc. (IHC), one of Indiana’s public health pioneers and one of the first federally qualified health center networks in Indiana, officially celebrates its 35th anniversary. Its “History in the Making” 35th celebration will be Friday, September 23, noon to 3 p.m., at the Indianapolis Mariott East, 7202 East 21st Street.

(www.IndianaHealthOnline.org) In addition, IHC is a powerful economic engine, a major employer, and a catalyst for economic revitalization in the communities it serves. IHC has clinic sites in South Bend, Marion, Kokomo, Logansport, Seymour and Peru.
Established in 1977, Indiana Health Centers, Inc. is a non-profit, community-based health center that provides primary and preventative health care and social services to medically underserved individuals and families, regardless of their ability to pay. IHC offers a sliding fee scale for those at or below 200 percent of the current poverty level income.
“The need for health care is increasing for thousands more Hoosiers every year, especially those who are uninsured, unemployed or underemployed,” said Lynn Clothier, IHC CEO. “For 35 years, we have provided a health care home for Hoosiers. With the growing economic and health care needs across the state, we see more opportunities to deliver services and provide greater access for those who are increasingly vulnerable. We are celebrating the local heroes who have helped us make history, as we look ahead to the next 35 years”, added Clothier.
IHC will honor six local champions as history makers for its 35th anniversary. They are: Dr. Doug MacGregor, South Bend; Dr. Jim Whitfield, Kokomo; Hershel Manhart, Peru; Gary Myers, Seymour and the late Joe Clements, Marion and George Poor, Logansport.
